Chemicals and reagents
Nicotine (CAS no. 54-11-5) was obtained from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA). Safranin O (CAS no. 477-73-6) and fast green (CAS no. 2353-45-9) were purchased from Hengyuan Biotech (HengYuan Biological Technology Co., Ltd, Shanghai, China). Trizol reagent kits were obtained from Omega BioTek (Doraville, GA, USA). Exscript RT reagent kit and SYBR(R) Premix Ex TaqTM were obtained from TaKaRa Biotechnology (Dalian, China). Oligonucleotide primers for analyzed genes were synthesized by Sangon Biotech (Shanghai, China). DMEM/F12 (1:1) and fetal bovine serum were supplied by Gibco (St. Louis, MO, USA). Polyclonal antibodies for COL2A1, SOX9, TGFβ, TGFβ receptor 1 (TGFβR1) and Smad2/3 were purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology (Santa Cruz, CA, USA). Other chemicals and agents were of analytical grade.
